Epiphany

Epiphany is the climax of the Advent/Christmas Season and the Twelve days of Christmas. The season of Epiphany extends from January 6th until Ash Wednesday. 
The term epiphany means "to show" or "to reveal"  - it remembers the coming of the wise men bringing gifts to visit the infant Jesus, who by so doing "reveal" him to the world.

The beginning of a Week of Prayer for Christian Unity which has been celebrated since 1908.

Feb 2

Candlemas

Commemorates Mary and Joseph taking Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem forty days after his birth to dedicate him to God, in line with Jewish law of the time.

Shrove Tuesday

The day before Lent. It is also called Pancake Day in the U.K. because traditionally people used up all the food that could not be eaten during Lent.

Ash Wednesday

The first day of Lent. Lent marks the 40 days and 40 nights Jesus spent in the wilderness.

 March 1  St. David's Day Commemorates Saint David, Patron Saint of Wales.

March 16

Palm Sunday

The sixth and last Sunday of Lent.

Maundy Thursday

Commemorates the Last Supper.

March 21

Good Friday

The Friday before Easter, which commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus.

March 23

Easter Sunday

Commemorates the Resurrection of Christ

May 1

Ascension Day

Commemorates the last appearance of Christ on earth, after his resurrection, before ascending to heaven.

May 11

Pentecost - Whitsun

The seventh Sunday after Easter, commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples and the founding of the Christian Church.

May 18

Trinity Sunday

The first Sunday after Pentecost. Contemplate the Holy Trinity; the union of three persons, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in one God.
