Parish of Cwmavon 200 Club

The Parish of Cwmavon '200 Club' was set up some time ago as a means of raising funds for the upkeep of St. Michael's Church, and also to give members a chance of winning in a monthly prize draw.

We are now seeking more names to join us in this venture. Whether you are a church member of not, we would be pleased to welcome you into our '200 Club'. Members pay £1 per month (or multiples up to £12 per year) with 3 prizes every month!!

                           1st prize - £20          2nd prize £15          3rd prize £10

the balance of the monthly money going to help with the church upkeep.

We are told regularly how much our Church is valued in the village and, if it is to continue to play a vital role within the community, we need to ensure its upkeep for future years. Help us to do this by contacting   Mrs. Anne Gullah,    telephone 01639 891700,  for further information on how to join the '200' Club

The gates are in memory of James Gwynn Lloyd (1871 - 1922), his wife Ester (1871 - 1945) and their daughter Gwyneth Mary (1901 - 1927); the dearly loved family of Harold G. O. Lloyd (1907 - 1972).

Mothers’ Union

We held a tea party at Michaelstone Court on 28th August for our indoor members who can no longer get to our monthly meetings.  They weren't all able to attend but about half of them made it and about half of our other members came along as well and made it a very enjoyable afternoon.  Julie, the superintendent, kindly allowed us to use the lounge and also gave us a hand with the teas, so we send her a big Thank You.  Everyone said that they really enjoyed themselves and it was good to be able to catch up with members that we don't see very often.  Also at the party was Christine Portsmouth who is the IMPC (Indoor Member Prayer Circle) co-coordinator.  She is in her last year of office and it was good for the indoor members to be able to put a face to the person who writes to them on a regular basis.  I think it may very well become a yearly event as it was so successful.

We start back up again this month (September) and all meetings start at 7 pm in the Church Hall.

Feel free to come and join us to see if you would like to join us on a more permanent basis.
